Leo Lucassen (hoogleraar Sociale Geschiedenis, Leiden University Institute for History) is onlangs op voordracht van de afdeling Geschiedenis en Archeologie van de Academia Europaea lid geworden van deze Europese academie voor wetenschappen.

Dr. Erik Kwakkel staat met het ene been in de wereld van middeleeuwse boekproductie en met het andere stevig in de moderne sociale media. Hij is co-auteur van Author, Reader, Book, een werk over middeleeuws schrijverschap, en hij twittert dagelijks over het onderwerp.

Dinsdagavond 10 december won de Leidse historicus Stefan Penders (25) de jaarlijkse scriptieprijs van het Internationaal Instituut voor Sociale Geschiedenis (IISG) en de Volkskrant. Hij won de prijs voor zijn scriptie ‘Imperial waters. Roman river god art in context’.

Op zaterdag 13 februari zijn, tijdens de dies voor alumni in het Kamerling Onnes Gebouw in Leiden, de Leidse Universitaire Scriptieprijzen 2016 uitgereikt. De eerste prijs werd gewonnen door historicus Kaspar Pucek. De kwaliteit van zijn scriptie werd ‘overweldigend’ genoemd.

This proposed research uses ego-documents from visual artists that were not intended for publication to reassess the scholarly debate on the demise of the Russian Avant-garde aesthetic in the twenties and early thirties of the 20th century.

The basic program comprises a total of twelve courses organized by the Research School, that have been purpose-developed for training and support of PhD students and Research MA students who specialize in Medieval Studies (history, art history, and literary history, in particular).
