Albertine Bloemendal werkt sinds afgelopen november aan haar proefschrift over de Nederlandse econoom en diplomaat Ernst van der Beugel (1918-2004). Giles Scott-Smith is haar promotor.

The ultimate aim of this project (initiated by the European Law Institute) is to design a framework that will enable the further development of coherent and functional rules for business rescue in Europe.

Learning a programming language is challenging. Even one of the first –but crucial– concepts to learn, variables, is hard to grasp. Variables can represent different roles and functions within a code and need to be named appropriately to support code comprehension and debugging.

Op 5 september overleed in het Amerikaanse Tucson Nicolaas Bloembergen, die in 1981 de Nobelprijs voor natuurkunde won. Bloembergen promoveerde in 1948 op kernspinresonantie aan de Universiteit Leiden. Media in binnen- en buitenland berichtten over zijn dood.
