This thesis explores how electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy can be used to investigate key biochemical processes.

Particles are omnipresent in biopharmaceutical products. In protein-based therapeutics such particles are generally associated with impurities, either derived from the drug product itself (e.g. protein aggregates), or from extrinsic contaminations (e.g. cellulose fibers).

Toekomstige technologieën zullen ons alledaagse leven ingrijpend beïnvloeden. In hoeverre worden we daar beter van? Op het toekomstcongres Brave New World, op 2 en 3 november in Leiden, komen optimistische en zorgwekkende scenario’s langs.

Kinderen die wat minder flexibel leren, worden snel onderschat in wat ze kunnen. Met een dynamische manier van testen blijken ze echter even goede prestaties te leveren als leeftijdsgenootjes, ontdekte psycholoog Femke Stad. Promotie 11 januari.

De opleiding Journalistiek en Nieuwe Media bestaat twintig jaar. Ter gelegenheid van het jubileum geeft student Iris Kole een inkijkje in haar dag als stagiair bij het Leidsch Dagblad.

De Theatercolleges van de Leidse Schouwburg bieden een avond vermaak met inhoud. Dit voorjaar staat een aantal Leidse wetenschappers op de planken.

In 2022 is Leiden de European City of Science. Universitair docent Jaap de Jong heeft bijzondere opdrachten bedacht voor de masterstudenten Journalistiek om dit te vieren: ze gaan de stad in om kennis uit de stad in beeld te brengen.
