Record aantal aanvragen Fellowship Scaliger Instituut
Met steun van bedrijven en particuliere stichtingen verwelkomen de Universitaire Bibliotheken Leiden en het Scaliger Instituut circa 15 tot 20 Fellows en gastonderzoekers per jaar, om materiaal in de Bijzondere Collecties te raadplegen en te onderzoeken. Dit jaar ontving het Scaliger Instituut een record aantal aanvragen van binnen- en buitenlandse inzenders voor een Fellowship.
Met de focus op het Leiden Asia Year 2017, zijn dit jaar ook een aantal nieuwe Fellowships gestart: de Isaac Alfred Ailion Fellowship voor de bestudering van de Japanse taal en cultuur en de Drewes Fellowship, die zich richt op het gebied van de Islam en Indonesië in godsdienstige zin, in het bijzonder de islamitische mystiek en meer specifiek de islamitische mystiek zoals beschreven in de zogenaamde Suluks.

Isaac Alfred Ailion Fellowship
